Born of American and Japanese parents, Benimaru is a young son of a multi-millionaire family. This genius fighter specializes in shooting and electricity-based techniques. Benimaru is also Kyo's best friend and friendly rival.

Former gold medalist in judo at the Olympic Games, Goro decided one day to improve his discipline by adding new techniques such as "Jiraishin." He later joined Kyo and Benimaru to participate in the KOF Tournament. Goro always seems to have a very serious expression, but he is a hard-worker.

After their adopted father and martial arts master Jeff Bogard was cruelly assassinated by crime lord Geese Howard, Terry and his brother Andy Bogard set off on a mission for revenge where they would travel the world learning various fighting styles. Terry’s bright personality and acts of kindness solidified him in the eyes of children on the streets as a sort of hero.

Andy set out for revenge after Geese Howard defeated his adopted father, Jeff Bogard, by learning Koppoken (a martial arts style that compliments Andy’s slender frame) and Shiranui-style Ninjutsu. Andy follows a strict moral code and always shows respect regardless of his opponent. Currently, he is in a relationship with Mai Shiranui.

Traveling alone to Thailand, Joe rose up the ranks to become a champion in Muay Thai Boxing. Though he has a playful and dynamic personality, Joe becomes far more serious when it comes down to training. He met Terry and Andy in South Town, and has remained good friends ever since.

Ryo is the son and entrusted owner of Takuma Sakazaki's dojos for the Kyokugen-style school of Karate. As a child, Ryo spent his time training his body, and eventually became so powerful that he was nicknamed The Invincible Dragon. Naturally, he is extremely strong-willed, and will spare no effort getting things done. Even to this day, he continues to train himself to his maximum potential.

Robert is the assistant instructor at Ryo's dojo. Legitimate heir of the Garcia Foundation in Italy, Robert joined the Kyokugen-style dojo against the wishes of his father and quickly became Ryo's best friend and training partner. Robert excels at kick attacks with his long legs. Robert also has not-so-secret feelings for Ryo's sister, Yuri.

Founder of Kyokugen-style Karate and teacher of its arts to Ryo, Robert, and Yuri. His life goal is to spread Kyokugen style Karate throughout the world, and he is always busy with his disciples. He is also the one who arranged King to marry Ryo.

Heidern commands the mercenary unit in which Ralf and Clark belong. He fights his enemies using a combination of martial and self taught assassination techniques. As a military officer, Heidern is always calm and silent, but can be very paternal to his adopted daughter Leona.

Ralf is one of the mercenaries led by Heidern. His rank is colonel. A combination of Heidern-style assassination moves and martial arts make up his unique fighting style. He is extremely caring and his subordinates trust him deeply. Clark and Leona accompany him on missions.

Clark is a mercenary who has fought alongside Ralf on numerous battlefields. His rank is lieutenant. In addition to Heidern-style assassination moves and martial arts, he specializes in wrestling throws and locks. Always calm, he has earned immense trust from Ralf.

Athena is a high-school pop idol fighting evil to bring about world peace. Her fighting style is composed of the psychic powers she was born with and Chinese Kung Fu. She is a hard worker, both polite and serious. But as a high school student, idol, and fighter, her days are just packed.

Sie Kensou is a young man who utilizes psychic powers and Chinese Kung Fu. As a disciple under Chin Gentsai, he undergoes intense training alongside Athena Asamiya. With a frivolous and always cheerful personality, he plays the big brother role well. Although he is secretly in love with Athena, they are nothing more than close friends.

Chin Gentsai is a hermit master of Chinese Martial Arts. A master of the Drunken Fist, his foes are at the mercy of his tricky moves with a round flask in one hand. Although he cannot use psychic powers, he leads his psychic disciples Athena Asamiya and Sie Kensou down the proper path.

Ryo Sakazaki's younger sister managed to learn deadly techniques in less than one year after joining the Kyokugen-style Dojo. As a fighting genius, Yuri has brought her personal touch to her martial art. She joins KOF in order to be recognized by her big brother.

Mai is a kunoichi and successor of the Shiranui-style of ninja arts. Her opponents are at the mercy of her graceful movements and fascinating attire. Using large fans as weapons, her fighting style is to "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee".

King is a female fighter dressed brilliantly in men's clothing. She fights with her own style of Muay Thai kickboxing. Taking advantage of her tall physique, she specializes in a variety of kicks. She is recognized as a leader among the female fighters. She is also the owner of the "Illusion" bar.

Heavy D! is a heavyweight professional boxer who once put his fighting opponent six-feet under. His fighting spirit is constantly smoldering as he's never found someone to give him a true fight. When he received an invitation to participate in KOF, he decided to join the tournament and assemble a team with his friends Lucky and Brian.

Once a first-rate basketball player, Lucky retired from the sport after losing the motivation to play it competitively. He then shifted his focus on learning karate and quickly rose to the top of the National Karate Championships. He is an old friend of Heavy D!

Brian is an active American football player and national hero. He was invited to participate in KOF as a team member by his friend Heavy D! even though he is the only one on the team with no martial arts experience. However, he is able to overpower other fighters based solely on the power that comes from his superior physique.

Kim is a very serious person with a strong and inherent sense of justice. As an expert in Taekwondo, he can stop any opponent attempt with his unpunishable kicking techniques. Kim is convinced that Taekwondo is the strongest fighting art, and wants to tell the world about it!

Once a feared and violent criminal, the two-meter-and-more-tall Chang battles with an enormous iron ball and chain that he spins around like a toy. Chang trained hard in the past in Taekwondo while under Kim's "Rehabilitation Project", but he teams up now with Xanadu.

Butcher by day, deadly predator by night. Choi gives a hard time to his opponents thanks his super speed and claw attacks. One day, he chanced to have stalked on Kim during one of his nightly walks, and was then forced to join his "Rehabilitation Project". After parting ways with Kim, Choi teams up now with Xanadu.

Organizer of the KOF tournament in 1994 where his plan was to collect famous warriors and add them to his own statue collection. Rugal is a man who has been involved in various conflicts around the world. His work as an arms dealer supplying weapons to war zones has put him on Interpol's radar.

Iori is the last descendant of the Yagami clan, an ancient family linked to the Three Sacred Treasures. Iori fights the enemies on his way via his sharp claws and purple flames. Since a blood pact concluded with Orochi, he sometimes enters a state of "Riot of the Blood" madness. The Kusanagi and Yagami clans have been fighting each other for more than 660 years.

A modern ninja who devotes himself entirely to his studies, and who is in constant pursuit of fighting strong warriors. The techniques he has inherited date back hundreds of years, and it is said that they were refined and compiled into their current form during the closing days of the Tokugawa shogunate. He has many special moves with the agility and sharpness of a ninja.

With intense loyalty towards Geese Howard, Billy is the right-hand man of Howard Connection. He is able to repel his enemies with his long range stick fighting. Passionate in what he does, he's earned himself the nickname "Walking Weapon".

Kyo Kusanagi's father and a former Kusanagi-style ancestral martial arts practitioner. In KOF '95, he was brainwashed by Rugal to use his power, but in KOF '98, he showed off his old skills. A shadowy arms dealer who once controlled the world's black market for weapons and drugs, and sought to kill numerous fighters. He was given life once again thanks to the power of Orochi, but his ambitions were crushed by a team of dedicated brawlers. Due to the influence of Verse, he has resurrected once again.

Leona belongs to a mercenary corps. As the adopted daughter of Heidern, she has received military training from a young age. The Orochi blood flowing within her veins led to an awakening of power. Although taciturn and poor at expressing emotion, both Ralf and Clark have occasionally seen her smile and cry.

Kasumi is the daughter of Ryuhaku Todoh, a renowned aikido practitioner, and trained herself in Todoh-style ancestral martial arts at a young age. She joined KOF on a journey to find her father, who disappeared after a battle with a Kyokugen-style karate fighter. She has never forgotten how to sharpen her skills in the midst of her fights.

Mature was once one of the eight members of the Hakkeshu Brotherhood, who were plotting for the resurrection of the Orochi divinity. Mature fights with fluid and very quick movements, and lacerates her enemies with the sharp edge of her hands. In contrast to Vice, Mature is a cold-hearted realist.

Vice was once one of the eight members of the Orochi clan, which lurked in the shadows in order to revive the eponymous divinity. Despite her frail stature, the very violent and cruel Vice possesses superhuman strength and excels in grappling moves, body slams, and shoulder charges. She shows interest in Iori, whose Orochi blood flows in his veins.

As the CEO of Howard Connection, Geese is a powerful man who controls South Town from the shadows. Well-versed in the ancient martial arts of Japan, he is skilled in reversing his opponent's attacks on themselves. His evil charisma proves to be an overwhelming presence.

Feared as the "emperor of darkness," Wolfgang Krauser received an invitation to participate in KOF. Geese Howard and Mr. Big were also attending, and at first, Krauser was not interested, but when he learned of the former's participation, he also agreed to join the tournament. He announced his own participation in order to find out the true reason for Geese's decision to join.

Mr. BIG is an executive of a secret organization operating within South Town. He is planning to expand the organization's power and participate in KOF with the intention of moving his activities to the public arena in the future. At first, he was quiet about it, but when he learned of Krauser's movements, it triggered his decision to participate in the tournament.

Chizuru Kagura is a descendant of the Yata clan, one of three powerful clans entrusted with the Sacred Treasures capable of sealing away “Gaia’s Will”, otherwise known as Orochi. Her fighting style resembles traditional Japanese dancing, while her access to the Kagura Style of Ancient Martial Arts allows her to seal away her opponent’s abilities. She convinces heirs of the other two clans, Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami, to once again join forces and enter the latest KOF in the hopes of revealing the powers behind the appearance of the being known as Verse and the weakening of the seal on Orochi.

As one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi, Goenitz has been working in the shadows to revive his dark lord. He is also known as "The Mighty Wind that Cuts Through Everything." He is a pastor by profession, so his manner of speaking is very polite, but his true nature is brutal and merciless, and he is a man who will take whatever means possible to achieve his goals.

Yashiro is the lead guitarist of the rock group C.Y.S. However, this is all a front as, for the past 660 years, he has underwent multiple reincarnations as a member of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi--which are the true enemies of the Three Sacred Treasures. He develops an interest in the mysterious powers wielded by the strange being known as Verse, and sets out with his friends Shermie and Chris to join KOF.

Charming but dangerous, Shermie is both a fashion designer and the lead keyboardist for the band C.Y.S. Her true nature is the same as Yashiro and Chris, as she herself is a member of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi. She incorporates her love for pro wrestling into her attacks, where she relies on her flexibility to toss her opponents around. Shermie is very amicable to those around her, and though she seems quite laid back, nobody really knows if this, too, is an act.

Chris is the vocalist of the rock group C.Y.S. Like his bandmates Shermie and Yashiro, Chris is also a member of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi. Though he has no experience in martial arts, his attacks utilize his small frame and speed to overwhelm his opponents. At first glance, Chris seems like a well-mannered young boy, however his angelic smile hides his devilish demeanor.

An outlaw, who made his name as a broker for the underworld. Despite being a member of the Hakkeshu Brotherhood, Yamazaki has absolutely no interest in Orochi’s resurrection, as he is only in it for his own personal gain.

She currently works as a freelance special agent. Born from a long line of famous fighters, Blue Mary excels in all fighting styles, and more particularly, in Sambo Commando, a martial art that uses striking and grappling techniques. Blue Mary has a strong bond with Terry Bogard.

A passionate high school student who is Kyo Kusanagi's junior. He admires Kyo and is training diligently to become as close to him as possible, even though he can be a bit annoying sometimes. He has no special abilities of his own, and uses unfinished techniques that he learned entirely by watching and imitating his idol, Kyo.

The blood of Orochi that resides in his body has gone out of control, and he has lost the ability to reason. His eyes are glowing, and the strange voice he emits is akin to that of a mad beast. His ego has collapsed, and he fights only out of instinct and hatred for Kyo.

Leona loses her ego whenever the blood of Orochi takes control of her. She is also a descendant of the Orochi clan, as her late father was one of Hakkeshu. When her sealed memories are recalled, the blood of Orochi awakens.

Yashiro revealed his true nature as one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi. With the goal of reviving their lord, Orochi, he leads Shermie and Chris into battle. Unlike his usual self, he is willing to act and speak brutally, and fights boldly using the power of the earth and his fearsome monstrous strength.

Shermie revealed her true nature as one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi. She joined forces with Yashiro and Chris for the purpose of reviving their lord, Orochi. Orochi Shermie is ruthless and brutal, a far cry from her usual frivolous demeanor. She possesses the power of lightning and takes aim at her opponents from a distance.

Chris revealed his true form as one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi. Chris joins forces with Yashiro and Shermie for the purpose of reviving Orochi. With a cruel smile and contempt for humans, Chris openly damns his opponents and burns them mercilessly with purple flames.

The supreme being that reigns at the top of the Orochi Clan. His exact identity is unknown, as the time and place he was born is a mystery to all. Many believe he is a god-like being born of nature--the will of the earth.

K´ is a modified human with genes transplanted from Kyo Kusanagi by the secret organization NESTS. He wields the ability to manipulate fire, a power he controls with his right hand glove. His personality is a mix of introversion and bluntness. He continues fighting in order to reclaim his lost memories.

Maxima is a cyborg remodeled by NESTS. With 80% of his body comprised of machinery, he is equipped with weaponry everywhere. His fighting ability is far beyond that of any human. As a loyal intellectual full of heart, he also understands K´ well.

Her background largely remains a mystery, but she closely resembles K´s deceased sister, Seirah. Whip takes full advantage of her special whip "Voodoo", given to her by the secret organization NESTS. No longer associated with them, she now serves under Heidern's commandment.

Bao is a fledgling psycho-soldier. Because the day he was born was a foretold 'cursed day' that occurred once every 200 years, he was sent to a temple as a child for fears that he would bring about disaster. One day, however, he manifested psychic powers, which led him to be placed under the care of Chin Gentsai.

Li Xiangfei works as a bouncer and waitress at her uncle's Chinese restaurant in South Town. She joined the women's fighter team because she was involved in an attempt to catch Kasumi Todoh, who was visiting South Town, and had, apparently, dined and dashed.

Jhun Hoon is a taekwondo practitioner that attended the same school as Kim, and they are friendly rivals. To demonstrate the legitimacy of his training ethics, he decided to take on Kim's Rehabilitation Project, in which he was put in the care of Chang Koehan and Choi Bounge. Despite his demeanor, Jhun Hoon is an ardent idol and pop singer fan.

Both are clones of Kyo created by NESTS. Kyo-1 is based on the KOF '94 version of Kyo and Kyo-2 is based on KOF '96 version. They both have slightly different profiles as well as special moves.

Krizalid is one of the top members of the secret society NESTS and fights his opponents with flame-based attacks. He planned to carry out a global terrorist attack using clones of Kyo Kusanagi placed all over the world.

Ramón is an influential luchador (Mexican pro-wrestler) who has been called the "strongest human alive". He has an always cheerful and frank personality. Although small for a fighter, he toys with his opponents by utilizing his agility and skillful throws.

Vanessa lives a double life as a housewife and a mercenary agent. She is highly skilled in boxing and is able to KO her opponents with ease. Her husband and child are not aware of the secret life she leads.

Lin is a member of the Hizoku, a group of assassins based in China. He joined KOF in pursuit of his best friend, Ron, who betrayed the Hizoku and ran away to join NESTS. His left hand acts as a poisoned blade that corrodes the skin of anyone it comes in contact with. He is also one of the Four Devas.

An old acquaintance of Benimaru, Seth is an agent with high intelligence-gathering abilities and has mastered a plethora of self-defense techniques. In addition to personal requests, he also performs reconnaissance and investigations for the military and police. He and Vanessa often work together on the same assignments and can be considered partners.

Hinako attends a prestigious young women's school and is a unique female martial artist who is passionate about sumo. She is usually calm and easygoing, with a laid-back tone of voice. She participated in KOF to establish a sumo club at her alma mater. Since the establishment of the club, she has continued to fight to spread the joy of sumo to as many people as possible.

Kula is a modified human engineered by NESTS in order to oppose K´. She is able to instantly freeze the moisture in the air. As a result of her modifications, she appears to be younger than she actually is. After the fall of NESTS she made peace with K´ and began operating alongside him.

Zero's clone was the commander of a field unit for the secret organization NESTS. He ruthlessly disposed of Krizalid after he finished collecting data, where he then infiltrated the military, killing and replacing the leading commander, Ling. He took possession of the satellite weapon Zero Cannon and attempted to rebel against NESTS.

Foxy is just one of the modified humans created by NESTS. She always works with Diana and watches over Kula like a guardian. At first, she followed the organization's orders, but she questioned their methods, resulting in her defection from NESTS.

Ángel is one of the cybernetically modified humans created by the secret organization NESTS. Her fighting style is called "Perfunctory❤" and uses a succession of complex attacks called "Unchained" that make for unrivaled power in close-combat. She has many hilarious behaviors as well as an elusive personality.

May Lee competes in KOF as a member of Kim's team in place of Jhun Hoon, who was hospitalized after a car accident. She is characterized by her two fighting styles: "Standard Mode," which is Taekwondo style, and "Hero Mode," in which she performs flashy moves reminiscent of Japanese tokusatsu heroes.

A senior member who spearheaded various plans at the secret syndicate NESTS. He is the Original Zero, and is a direct subordinate of Igniz, the organization's de facto ruler. Though his strength far surpasses that of his clone, in the end, he too shares his fate with NESTS, losing his life in a fearsome battle.

NESTS, the syndicate bent on world domination, developed a project to transplant Kyo Kusanagi's flame power into a cloned body, and thus, KUSANAGI was born into this world. KUSANAGI has a somewhat rougher personality than the original Kyo, and is often belligerent. In KOF2003, he appears as a mid-boss.

Son of the founder of the secret crime syndicate, NESTS, Igniz was one of the top leaders, but he killed his father and seized full power for his own. He planned to prove himself to be the strongest in the world by defeating the winner of KOF and rule the world as a god. In the end, he is defeated by the winner of the tournament, and his life and dreams are turned to ash along with the fortress satellite.

A descendent of Saiki, the leader of Those from the Past, this young man was once thought to be erased from time. Wielding flames of emerald and an arrogant smile, Ash teams with Kukri to help him complete his goal.

A member of the Hizoku assassin group, Duo Lon is a young man with crimson red eyes. He participates in KOF to gather information in order to track down his father, Ron, a traitor to his family. He has mastered a special fighting style called the "Piercing Pugilism of the Wailing Underworld," in which he attacks by summoning the spirits of the dead. Duo Lon also boasts of his tremendous reach and attack speed.

Shen Woo is a well-known figure in the Shanghai area, and is more of a brawler than a fighter. He is not interested in Ash's involvement in the "Those from the Past" cult, and continues to participate in KOF simply to fight against the strongest opponents.

As his name in Japanese suggests, he wears a griffon mask, but no one knows his true face or identity. He is a "good guy" wrestler who enters the ring to bring smiles to children's faces and hates foul play and cowardly attacks.

This cold and calculated master-class fighter always strays away from the pack. He set out for vengeance after his mother died at the hands of his father. Though he wishes to go his own way, B. Jenet was able to convince him to join her team in KOF XV as she has some info on his father’s whereabouts.

Malin fights using a yo-yo fitted with a blade and a hidden knife. She uses her small size and speed to her advantage, and plays with her opponents similar to how a cat plays with a toy. It is said that she belongs to some kind of organization, but the details and scale are unknown. Her real name and the purpose for her participation in KOF are also, unsurprisingly, unknown.

Maki was a woman who guarded the Yata no Kagami, one of the three sacred treasures protected by the Kagura family. She was murdered by Goenitz and entrusted her mission to her younger sister, Chizuru. In KOF 2003, Chizuru was manipulated by Botan and resurrected her sister Maki as a phantom created by the Yata no Kagami. She stands to test the strength of the tournament participants.

Adelheid has an extraordinary natural talent for fighting, but he is a gentleman who never forgets to show respect to others. His sister Rose, however, has a unique artistic sense and does not tolerate those who do not conform to her values, and because of this, she is used by Those from the Past.

Mukai was the being that held the KOF 2003 tournament to test the possibilities of human beings. He is a member of Those from the Past, a cult that appeared from a different existence, a different time, and a different place from people living in the present day. He broke the seal of Orochi, one of the forces of Earth's Will, and facilitated its resurrection.

Though Oswald is a composed and older-looking gentlemen, he's actually a former hitman well-known in the underground. He has mastered the Karnöffel assassination art, and uses playing cards to slice and dice his opponents. As a veteran poker player, he never shows his hand.

A childhood friend of Ash, Elisabeth is part of the Blanctorche bloodline, a family tasked with stopping Those from the Past. She joins KOF XV to honor her debt to Kukri. Elisabeth is far more strict with herself than others, and maintains a righteous and principled mindset that refuses to make concessions. Controlling light, her fights tend to dazzle any onlookers lucky to catch a glimpse of her in action.

Duck King appeared in the original FATAL FURY as a street dancer and street fighter, and stood in the way of Terry and his friends. In KOF XI, he and his rivals, Terry and Kim, participate in the tournament out of boredom. As he is a dancer, his attacks often look like intricate dance moves.

The leader of a band of pirates known as the Lillien Knights, B. Jenet has traveled the world far and wide. Daughter of the Behrn family, an influential international cartel, she became bored of her luxurious but tedious life and ran away to form the Lillien Knights. After the tumultuous events that transpired KOF XIV, B. Jenet has her suspicions that the worst is not over yet and sets her sights on joining KOF XV to see what’s in store.

By recommendation of Chin Gentsai, Momoko joined KOF XI as a new member of the Psycho Soldier team. She may look like an elementary school student, but in actuality, she is a high school student. Momoko combines Capoeira's skills with her psychic power to battle powerful opponents.

Gai Tendo is a character who participates in a mixed martial arts tournament in the 3D fighting game, BURIKI ONE.

Sho is the martial arts successor to Fists of Fu'un, a fusion of boomerang attacks and actual karate that appears in the Savage Reign series.

Jazu is a boss character in Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle. He is the leader of the dark and mysterious organization, JAGA.

Silver intervened in the Grand Finals of BURIKI ONE and stood in the way of players across the globe. He tormented Gai Tendo and his team with his overwhelming power.

Shion has a fighting style based on Chinese Wushu, and switches between two fighting modes: bare-handed and with a spear. Although he looks feminine, he is in fact a man. Shion is a member of Those from the Past, and he invades KOF XI to test the power of humans, aiming to awaken Orochi's power.

Magaki hosts KOF XI to revive Orochi, who was unsealed by Mukai. His true identity is that he's a member from the cult Those from the Past, who traveled to the present day through a time leap using planetary alignment that is said to occur once every several hundred years.

Raiden is a masked wrestler who has appeared first in FATAL FURY. Through the deviousness of Chang Koehan and Choi Bounge, he participated in KOF XIII as a member of Kim's team along with Hwa Jai.

A former Muay Thai champ who has first appeared in FATAL FURY. Through the devious schemes of Chang Koehan and Choi Bounge, he and Raiden compete in KOF XIII together with Kim, hoping to shed their dirty image.

Mr. Karate is a Kyokugen style Karate practitioner who wears a tengu mask. His true identity is...

Saiki is the leader of Those from the Past, as well as being Ash Crimson's ancestor. He is ruthless and has been known to annihilate his own people, like with Mukai. When he first appears, he is white with his hair down, identical to Ash, but after his transformation, he is a muscular man with reddish-black skin.

Evil Ash is a being in which Saiki has taken control of Ash's body and spirit. He appears in black clothes and can manipulate black flames.

Shun'ei is a manipulator of illusions. Due to his mysterious powers, he was abandoned at a young age by his parents and was raised as a disciple of Tung Fu Rue. Through Hakkyokuseiken training, he learned to control his hidden powers. As the last disciple of Tung, he has set out to challenge other fighters from all over the world with his close friend Meitenkun.

With pillow in hand, this sleepy young fighter is a master of the hidden martial arts technique, Hyakkyokuminminken, or Eight Extremities Slumber Fist. The family he knows today is his mentor Tung Fu Rue and fellow disciple/best friend Shun’ei.
